Developer interview
Developer interview: item discovery & gear longevity
Josh Greenfield says Forever is obfuscating item data so stats are not exposed until an item drops for someone on the server. The team also wants more incremental power growth between tiers, leaving room for older or even blue items to remain useful for specific purposes.

Evidence notes
- • Beta-client data can change before launch.
- • An item appearing in data does not by itself establish a final drop source or launch stat line.
Beta observed evidence
Player Beta observationPowderfuse: BMAH and fixed-price material vendor
The materials and prices below are read directly from the structured Beta evidence. They record a player observation from the September 19 Beta, not a Blizzard-confirmed rule for the live economy.
Observed materials and prices
Vendor inventory, prices, location, and BMAH contents may continue to change during Beta. These prices should not be interpreted as permanent market price ceilings.

Beta confirmed: Waylaid Crates are present in Forever
Blizzard’s first Forever Beta Known Issues explicitly lists bugs for Waylaid Crates and Apprentice Curiosities, with fixes planned for the next Beta build. That confirms the system is implemented in the current Forever Beta rather than merely inferred from Season of Discovery.
Database status
Blizzard has confirmed the itemization direction and several examples, but has not published the complete item table, stat rolls, drop rates, boss loot lists, or all quest rewards. Those granular records will be added only when official or Beta evidence is available.
